#105: Steve Buytels (Tamarack Valley Energy) - Why to Protect the Balance Sheet, Rose Colored Glasses & Ensuring Capital Discipline

This episode we are joined by Steve Buytels – CFO of Tamarack Valley Energy - a TSX listed energy company with daily production of ~40,000 boe/d and a market cap of approximately $3 Billion. 

Steve’s experience includes 13 years of energy capital markets, finance and advisory services  as the Managing Director & Co-Head of Institutional Energy Equities at Stifel FirstEnergy as well as a Principal at independent investment bank - Peters & Co in the Institutional Equities group. 

Mr. Buytels holds a Chartered Financial Analyst Designation and a Bachelors of Management from the University of Lethbridge.

We sat down for a smooth cup of rose bros coffee and discussed why its important to protect the balance sheet from downside risk, capital disciple, choosing the correct discount rate, having rose colored glasses in the energy industry and thinking for the long term.
