#54: Stephen Moore (Orion Plastics) - Building an 8 Figure Plastics Business, Recycling, and the Circular Economy

The following is a conversation with Stephen Moore, President & Owner at Orion Plastics Inc.

Orion Plastics produces a diverse range of products including everything from the siding you see in NHL hockey rinks to the components the make up your car.

Making products from a large amount of recycled plastic, the company is a great example of sustainable business that helps the environment in a pragmatic way.

In addition, Orion recently started producing Meltblown Polypropylene Non-Woven Fabric filter media for the production of N95 and 3-Ply Medical masks to support the Health Services industries in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The company employs more than 60 people, is based out of Edmonton Alberta and is 100% privately owned.

Since taking ownership, Stephen and his team have grown the company to eight figures in annual revenues with consistent profits and no signs of slowing down.

We sat down over a smooth cup of rose bros coffee and talked about everything from bootstrapping a plastic business, to turning a profit, putting everything on the line to start a business and a lot more!
