#92: John Brussa (BD & P Law) - How the Energy Trusts Grew to $100 Billion, a Consigliere & Why to Bet Against the Crowd

This episode we are joined by John Brussa – partner & chair of the BD & P Law.

In addition to being known for co-creating the $100 Billion energy income trust market, Mr.Brussa has been a partner of Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP since 1987. 

Mr. Brussa obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Windsor in 1978 and a Bachelor of Laws degree, with Gold Medalist distinction, from the University of Windsor in 1981. 

He articled with Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP and was admitted to the Law Society of Alberta in June, 1982.

He is also a board member of numerous companies including Cardinal Energy Ltd., Crew Energy Inc. (Chairman), Crown Capital Partners Inc., Coelacanth Energy & Titanium Corporation Inc.

John also contributions to many organizations including Haskayne School of Business, Calgarians Committed to Change Cabinet, RESOLVE Campaign & Calgary Homeless Foundation.

We sat down for a smooth cup of rose bros coffee and discussed the story of how the energy incomes trusts were created and then destroyed, becoming a consigliere to business leaders, the importance of creating value for shareholders and why to bet against the crowd.
